We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate an unprecedented achievement for our district: Six of our schools have been named Tennessee Reward Schools by the Tennessee Department of Education!
This designation is the highest honor a public school can earn in the state and reflects an extraordinary level of dedication from our students, educators, staff, and community.
The 2024-2025 Reward Schools for our district are:

To be named a Reward School, a school must demonstrate high levels of performance and/or improvement by meeting demanding objectives across multiple indicators for all student groups. This is incredibly difficult to achieve, as the state emphasizes performance across the entire school population.
The core criteria include:
Student Achievement (Proficiency on TCAP assessments)
Student Growth (Accelerated learning over time)
Chronic Absenteeism (Encouraging students to attend school regularly)
English Language Proficiency (Progress for English Learners)
High School Indicators (Graduation Rate and Ready Graduate Rate)
Earning this distinction means these six schools are truly operating among the best in the state, demonstrating continuous, high-quality success in teaching and learning.
We also want to recognize the excellent progress shown by White County Middle School and Woodland Park Elementary, which demonstrated significant student growth this year. Their commitment to acceleration is outstanding!

White County Schools has teamed up with Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential care coordination service, to help students, staff, and their families find mental health and substance abuse support. This partnership simplifies the often-difficult process of finding help by connecting people to a wide range of vetted providers, regardless of insurance status.

Personalized Matching: The service uses a proprietary system to match individuals with local providers based on their specific needs, preferences, and insurance. They'll even find options for those without insurance.

White County Schools Achieves Highest Growth Score for the Second Year in a Row!
White County Schools is proud to announce a Level 5 Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) score once again for the 2024-2025 school year!ย This top score means our students are growing at a rate that exceeds expectations and surpasses the statewide average.
This is an incredible moment for our district, and it belongs to everyone, from our focused students to our passionate educators and our supportive families.ย We are dedicated to providing the best education possible, and these results show that our collective effort is paying off in a big way.ย We're excited to see what our students will achieve next!

Dear Parents,
We ask for your partnership in an important matter: helping our students understand the impact of their words.
Each year, we deal with students saying things of a violent or threatening nature.ย While most of these remarks are not made with malicious intent, we must take every comment seriously. These statements can be very frightening for other students and their families and disrupt a positive and safe learning environment for everyone.
Please take a moment to speak with your child about the importance of using respectful and appropriate language at school. Remind them that words have power and that even comments made in jest can be misinterpreted and cause serious concern. Your reinforcement helps us ensure that our schools remain a welcoming and secure place for all students.
New Cell Phone and Personal Electronic Devices State Law
Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to remind you of a new state law that went into effect on July 1, which requires school districts to ban personal electronic devices during instructional time.ย This includes but is not limited to cell phones and wearable technology such as earbuds and smart watches.ย Rest assured that this will not cause a major disruption to the White County School Board policy that has been in effect for several years.ย Like always, students are still permitted to possess personal electronic devices, but they must remain off and out of sight during instructional time. ย Exceptions are made for emergency, medical, and disability reasons, as well as explicit permission given by the teacher for educational purposes.ย The school board policy allows for use before and after school, and also allows for grades 9-12 to use for reasonable and appropriate purposes during class changes and other breaks throughout the day.
We understand that a common concern from parents is a lack of access in the event of an emergency.ย To ensure that the restricted classroom access does not prevent guardians from receiving communication in these situations, you will always be given priority notification through ParentSquare.ย We will work with our law enforcement and first responder partners to ensure that you receive regular updates until the event has been resolved.
Thank you for helping us protect instructional time without the distractions from music, texts, and social media.ย Our goal is to provide a safe and educational environment for all students.

All Students Receive Free Breakfast and Lunch for the 2025-26 School Year
We are excited to share that all White Co. Schools students, grades Pre-K through 12, will receive free breakfast and lunch again for the 2025-2026 school year!
Parents may choose to keep money in their child's account to purchase additional breakfast, lunch, or a-la-carte items. You may do this online at https://www.whitecoschools.net/departments/school-nutrition

White County School District Continues to Soar!
We're thrilled to share an initial peek at our assessment data from last school year, and the results are overwhelmingly positive!ย Our students demonstrated incredible growth and achievement, placing us above the state average in 26 out of 27 categories. We're also incredibly proud to announce that we ranked in the Top 5 in the Upper Cumberland in ALL categories for grades 3-8 and ALL high school EOCs. This success is a testament to the hard work of our students, dedicated staff, and supportive community. We'll be diving deeper into these exciting results and sharing more detailed insights this fall!
White County One of Only 100 Districts Nationwide to Outpace Pre-Pandemic Scores
The recently released Education Recovery Scorecard signified that White County Schools is one of only four districts in the State of Tennessee and among just 100 districts nationwide that have seen a full recovery in both reading and math and are outpacing pre-pandemic scores.ย This is a testamate to the hard work of our teachers, staff, and students.ย We are so proud!ย Way to go White County Schools!
All White County Schools Receive Top Marks on State Report Card
White County Schools is thrilled to announce that all schools in our district have received A's or B's on the 2023-24 Tennessee State Report Card!ย This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff.ย White County High School earned an A while all other schools earned a B letter grade.
According to the Tennessee Department of Education, these high letter grades indicate that a school is performing at or above expectations in several key areas, including:
